I am flying to Rome & need advice on # of Euros to bring to get 50 miles further to ship by train or cab.?

If you use the trains, you can get by with 25 to 30 euro, but you might want more just in case. I would agree with the other answer that 50 euro would be a reasonable minimum amount to have, but by exchanging very small amounts you won't get a good deal. At the least, you can get an espresso and a brioche along the way somewhere.

The port is at Civitavecchia. Transfer by car/cab from either of the airports is pretty expensive - 100 euro or more depending on the company and the number of people transported. The most economical way to get to the port is by train. If you're flying into Fiumicino airport, there's a train between the airport and the Roma Termini station. The trains run every half hour, take 31 minutes to reach Roma Termini and cost 11 euro. See below for the trains from Roma Termini to Civitavecchia.

The airport shuttles from Ciampino to the port at Civitavecchia are the most convenient way to go, but are fairly expensive. http://www.airportshuttle.it/rates.htm

There are several companies that provide this service in addition to the link provided.

It's much cheaper to take the bus (Terravision bus - costs 8 euro) or train (shuttle bus to the Ciampino station 1 euro, 5 min and train to Roma Termini 1.30 euro, 15 min) from the airport to Roma Termini train station and then taking the train to Civitavecchia. You can check specific schedules here: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html The regional trains take an 1 hr 4 min to 1 hr 18 min and cost 4.50 euro. There are a few trains during the day that take about 50 minutes, but cost more (Intercity 8.50 euro, Eurostar 10 euro).

The train station in Civitavecchia is about a 10 minute walk or a short cab ride from the station. When you get to the entrance to the port, there are free shuttles to the various docks.I am flying to Rome %26amp; need advice on # of Euros to bring to get 50 miles further to ship by train or cab.?
Well... the exchange rate is $1.59 to the Euro as of this morning and you need about 50 Euros of walking around money, so you need to spend about $80 for Euros.
