Advice from CAB?

Has anyone been to the citizens advice about bad debt, did they help, what did they do?Advice from CAB?
Hi,

If you go to the CAB they will get you to/ or help you fill in. There are a few forms but nothing to be scared of!

They will use these forms to work out:

-Who you owe and what you owe.

-What you need to live (rent, bills, utilities so on)

-What is left over to pay your debts.

They will then go over some options with you.

One option maybe to work out a financial plan based on these figures, they will write to everyone you owe explaining what you can afford to pay and how they came to this conclusion.

By doing this it will allow you some space from the people you owe, they are unlikely to keep hassling you (as long as you keep paying) as they know you are paying them the maximum you can afford.

Some debts are called priority debts and they have consequences if you dont pay them ie you will end up in court. CAB will identify these and ensure they are dealt with.

Or they might talk to you about bankruptcy, so on.

For every option they give you they will explain the consequences so that you can come to a conclusion yourself.

They can do as little or as much as you want.

The worst thing you can do with debt is to ignore it. If you go to the CAB they can start the ball rolling to help you sort things out.

Make sure you take all your paper work with you and dont be ashamed to tell them anything, they wont judge you and they have honestly seen it all before...and then some!!

Good luck!Advice from CAB?
They are excellent at sorting out debt problems. There are a few alternatives and they will tell you what is best for you. Go to see them. they are very friendly and non judgemental
Yes I did and they contacted all the people I owed money and got an admin order throught the court so I could pay it all off and the creditors were not allowed to contact me. That was for under 拢5000 though. They will help in any way they can
no i haven't but a neighbour made a visit for some reason or another and he wasn't impressed//i'm sure that was an odd occasion
