Advice needed about Marshall Cabs!?

I have recently bought a 100watt Peavey Valveking head but don't like the tone of it through the peavey cab that you're 'supposed' to use with it. I tried it out with a Marshall cab and it sounded much warmer and rounded but I want to clarify details on which cab I should get and how to set the ohms on the amp and cab so that I won't fry anything!





I think I am going to buy the Marshall MG412 angled cab. Would this be suitable for this amp? Thanks.Advice needed about Marshall Cabs!?
Stock cabs, like stock pickups, tend to kinda blow. I prefer to experiment with different cabs and go with the one I like best! Different speakers bring out different tonal characteristics, and good speakers actually help improve your tone!





The Marshal MG412 is okay, but there are better ones out there, imho. Of course, not everyone can drop 600$+ for a cab, though! I really like the 1960a cabs... the Celestion G12T-75's are one of the best speakers for rock, in my opinion - the high wattage rating keeps them from breaking up, they have a lot of clarity, and not so much treble that they sound hissy.





If you have a couple hundred dollars, I urge you to check out avatar speakers (I think that's the right link below... from memory... google if I'm wrong!). They make custom cabs that are in general far better than the ones you can buy, on a dollar for dollar basis.





You also might want to consider just replacing the speakers, although admittedly this can be just as expensive and you kinda have to know what you're doing. A good, and relatively inexpensive, site is listed below.





There is a bit of misinformation or ignorance about how to correctly hook up a tube amp to a cab out there, but I'll try to explain the guidelines as I understand them.





The simplest rule is to match impedances. If the cab has an 8 ohm impedance, use the 8 ohm out on your amp. Its that easy - matching impedances gives you the maximum possible transfer of power between your amp and your speakers.





The safest thing is that if you aren't sure, then to go from a low impedance out to a higher impedance cab. In other words, if you only have an 8 ohm out but a 16 ohm cab, then that is safe.





This is an impedance thing - going into a higher impedance reduces the energy transferred a little (so slightly lower volume, barely perceptible in my experience), but gives you a little more higher frequency response, ie, it should brighten things up a little.





Technical stuff: the reason why passive pickups have tone sucking issues is partly because of cable capacitance, but a lot of it has to do with impedance. Going into a higher impedance (10x higher is the standard) in audio terms means you keep all of your voltage, although you lose current. When talking audio signals, though, you don't count current, since DC is blocked by capacitors in your audio circuits anyways. Soooo.... going into a higher impedance means you lose some power transfer, but you lose a little less voltage, and that means higher signal fidelity. This can be good or bad, honestly, it depends on your rig and your speakers. Many amps/tubes like to be pushed a little harder, so a little more impedance isn't a big issue.





The disadvantage of this is that it puts more resistance on your power tubes (the output transformer and the power tubes have to dissipate a little more heat). If your tubes are low-quality, this *may* reduce their lifespan a little. It shouldn't, but to err on the side of caution it is best to use good quality power tubes and to always keep a backup set on hand.





On the other hand, it is more stressful on your amp to go into a *lower* impedance. This means the amp will deliver less voltage but more current, and this can *definitely* place a toll on the power tubes and output transformer. I do not recommend this - sure, most amps are designed well enough to handle this type of load, but to be on the safe side, higher impedances are okay, lower impedances are not, matching impedances are ';standard';.





Briefly, about impedances - speaker impedance is kinda like an ';average';. Some frequencies will have higher impedances then others, and that's what creates the frequency response! So at some frequencies the amp will see hundreds of ohms, at others only a few... something to keep in mind....





One of the most important things for tube amps, in my opinion, is to use your standby switch! Flip it onto standby for at least 30 sec (60-90 is better) so the tubes have a chance to warm up before you turn your power on. Likewise for powering down - go to standby for at least 30 seconds before you turn it all the way off. This babies the tubes, and helps them last longer. Beyond that, if you walk away from your amp and don't plan on using it for at least 10-15 minutes, then put it on standby.





I love the standby switch - I've accidentally left my Mesa Tremoverb on standby overnight, but its not really an issue - the tubes are getting less power and aren't really doing any work, so it doesn't hurt them.





The most, most, most important thing is to never turn your amp on without it being plugged in to a speaker!!! This places a *huge* strain on them, and can easily damage both them and the output transformer.

Need advice on having lost my cellphone in a cab without my dad getting more pissed off?

So... I've lost about two cellphones in the past


1.) While horseback riding


2.) During the terry fox run





and.. i think my third one i lost yesterday





The last cellphone I lost during the terry fox run was my brother's who borrowed it to me when he went to america, and i lost it a week after.





Now, In the morning of yesterday, my dad gave me a comment never to ride taxis.


However, at about night, It was pouring rain like crazy, the bus stop was ages away, i was carrying a violin, sheet music, and a bag full of books, and there was a taxi right in front of me so i rode it. AND THEN I LEFT MY PHONE IN THE CAR. I took out my phone to pretend to call my mom cause there was no batteries in it, but i figured there was less chance of getting kidnapped this way.


and so my brother is gonna kill me for losing his second phone, my dad is going to kill me for losing my third phone,


and if the taxi driver decides to return the phone, then the taxi authorities CALL MY DAD TO GO GET MY PHONE. so either way, I get killed for losing the phone or almost losing the phone %26gt;%26lt;


so should i break the news to my dad, who just got mad at me in the morning over my lack of responsibility on some stupid reason, or just pray that the cellphone is miraculously in my bag?

You should call the cab company that you used that night and let them know that you left your cell phone in one of their cabs. Give them a detailed description of the phone complete with any little blemishes that you would use to recognize that it is yours. It may have already been collected and placed in their lost and found area. You'd be surprised at how many cell phones are left in cabs. Some people recover them, others don't, but if yours is there, then go get it and your father won't have to know anything about the incident.

Unless this is your first amp then don't get a combo. You may like it at first, but you will wish you had gone with a cab later.

If you use the trains, you can get by with 25 to 30 euro, but you might want more just in case. I would agree with the other answer that 50 euro would be a reasonable minimum amount to have, but by exchanging very small amounts you won't get a good deal. At the least, you can get an espresso and a brioche along the way somewhere.





The port is at Civitavecchia. Transfer by car/cab from either of the airports is pretty expensive - 100 euro or more depending on the company and the number of people transported. The most economical way to get to the port is by train. If you're flying into Fiumicino airport, there's a train between the airport and the Roma Termini station. Advice about in cab electrics please.?

I have landed a trucking job which will keep me away from home a few nights a week and I want to run a fridge, coffee maker, TV and possibly a game system but I don't want to run it all out of a cigarette socket because I know I could blow some fuses.

you'll want to hard-wire the inverter directly to the batteries. most inverters only have a maximum outlet of three appliances. you are going to have a problem running these items because of the current draw. I suggest you plug the refer unit into the rear lighter socket (in the sleeper) because you'll want to run that all the time. after that you'll have to figure the amp draw on each item so as not to overload the inverter. t.v. will draw the most amps., and I'm not sure of the game. coffee maker will be tricky because of the limited amount of space. try a sony headunit- they have front aux. plugs.


try infinity or polk audio speakers. inifinity deliver good hi's and decent bass, and polk's deliver good bass and decent hi's depending on your preference. you can always add tweeters as long as they are crossed over, or come with crossovers- the above mentioned speakers come in component setups with a woofer, crossover, and tweeter. look for custom enclosures at circuit city (they can order) that fit the truck. If you go to the CAB they will get you to/ or help you fill in. There are a few forms but nothing to be scared of!


They will use these forms to work out:


-Who you owe and what you owe.


-What you need to live (rent, bills, utilities so on)


-What is left over to pay your debts.





They will then go over some options with you.





One option maybe to work out a financial plan based on these figures, they will write to everyone you owe explaining what you can afford to pay and how they came to this conclusion.





By doing this it will allow you some space from the people you owe, they are unlikely to keep hassling you (as long as you keep paying) as they know you are paying them the maximum you can afford.


Some debts are called priority debts and they have consequences if you dont pay them ie you will end up in court. CAB will identify these and ensure they are dealt with.





Or they might talk to you about bankruptcy, so on.





For every option they give you they will explain the consequences so that you can come to a conclusion yourself.


They can do as little or as much as you want.





The worst thing you can do with debt is to ignore it. If you go to the CAB they can start the ball rolling to help you sort things out.


Make sure you take all your paper work with you and dont be ashamed to tell them anything, they wont judge you and they have honestly seen it all before...and then some!!

Get a Dodge Ram Mega Cab with the HEMI. Oodles of room. Gas mileage not bad either.
IF you want a full size pickup get a Toyota Tundra or a Chevy/GMC Silverado-Sierra pickup, if you want a mid size truck get a Toyota Tacoma or a Nissan Frontier
Only the Toyota and Ford have a slider, but all you mentioned have a sunroof as an option. They are all really nice and are dependable vehicles. I have a 2004 Chevy LS 4dr. that cost $18500 new. Got lots of power and still gets about 17MPG. It does'nt have a sunroof but has everything else I'll ever need.


The truck you are looking for will cost near $30000 in any make.

hear that i will say get the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab because this year they come right after Toyota Tundra on every single test and powertrain. the Silverado has more HP two V8 295hp and the other V8 is 315Hp and also they have a better gas mileage than the F150 and I like its new look. Ford had the same look for almost 4 years now and its getting old. so stick to the Chevy. but I will recommond the Toyota Tundra it has more Hp to two everything you need or Nissan Titan. they both lot better than these two Trucks. so but since you want an American trucks the Chevy it is.

i think you would be better off going with a suspension lift. On that old of a truck a lot of the bolts would be pretty rusty im sure. plus i don't like they way they look the body is up but everything under it is still downAny advice on buying and installing a 3 inch body lift on a 1990 ford f150 extra cab?
You might have to modify the floor by the 4wd shifter afterwards. I used to have a full size Bronco w/ 3'; body lift and it used to kick the transfer into neutral if I hit a decent bump.

You don't need much to become a cab driver. Just bring your Pakistani passport and driving license, and apply. You are in before you can say the words, ';Jack Robinson!'; And oh yes, make sure you don't speaking anything in English that actually makes any sense. That always helps. is that the highest goal you have set for yourself? i know indians know 1000s of ways of sneaking into western countries, but you still surprise. you haven't seen cabs in arizona because you have not been there. secondly, if there is no demand for cabs, how can you become a cabbie? why don't you become one where you are living right now? or are you in arizona already?

I've got myself into some problems with finances, nothing major, but it does need to be addressed sooner than later - but I need legal advice for a potential court case.

There actually pretty picky on who they help, you must be seen as in need of help and have no where else to turn to. If you ahve a decent income you will be expected to seek legal help from a lawyer. They generally only deal with those on benefits or in serious urgent need. They are really bogged down so unless your in serious need you'll get turned away.





There are plenty of websites that offer financial and legal help, moneysavingexpert will get you sorted quicker then the CAB will. Also most solicitors offer a 1 hr free session, so ring a few in your area and ask if they can give you a free consulation. they won't be able to help other then explain certain things but there more educated then a cab employee!Is CAB the best place for free legal advice?
NO! I went to them for help, and got turned away because I ';Did not fit their criteria';. This without being seen by anyone in authority, just the Sudani receptionist.


There are plenty of other places, try looking in your local free paper, and be careful. You must not pay them anything!

You may find that your local CAB is bogged down with customers so to speak. There is one of the best web sites ever for financial help it is below and 100% FREE.
They are quite hard to access sometimes, they aren't always open but if you go and see them they can pass you on to the community legal service.
Try CAB as the first port of call - you may find they are snowed under and cannot help you. Is there a legal advice centre in your area?

From what I understand, Citizens Advice Bureaux form a network of independent volunteer organizations that offer varying levels of service, sometimes including legal advice. Perhaps your local CAB could provide you with the name of similar organizations in France.
